What each degree does
iCm
Home, but in shadow — the minor tonic. The same rest as I, coloured dark and melancholic.
ivsusFsus4
The suspended minor subdominant — the 4th floats over the borrowed iv, softening its bittersweet plagal colour before it resolves.
VsusGsus4
The suspended dominant — it delays the leading tone by putting the 4th in its place, so the pull toward I is postponed and softened before V resolves.
iCm
Home, but in shadow — the minor tonic. The same rest as I, coloured dark and melancholic.
