Dorian Vamp i-IV-i-IV
Piano sound loads on first tap. Resolved in the key of C — every chord links to its full analysis.
A modal loop that never really cadences: a minor tonic (i) rocking against a MAJOR subdominant (IV). That major IV — the raised sixth of the Dorian mode — brightens the minor key without leaving it, a static vamp favored in modal jazz and film scoring.
What each degree does
Home, but in shadow — the minor tonic. The same rest as I, coloured dark and melancholic.
A step out from home into the light — the subdominant. It sets up the dominant or resolves with a plagal ('amen') colour, opening space without sharp tension.
